After becoming the cream of Hollywood's up-and-coming talent, Juno's star Ellen Page is pegged to play Jane Eyre in (yet another) adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's literary classic - despite there having already been over 20 big and small screen versions so far.

Although there's no director yet, the screenplay's been written by Moira Buffini, with the BBC and Alison Owen (who recently worked on The Other Boleyn Girl) heading up the production.

At first glance this might appear to be a surprise choice for the lead in a Bronte adaptation, but in fact it's quite an astute bit of casting. While the Bronte's have quite rightly found their place in literary history, their work is essentially a 19th Century version of Barbara Taylor Bradford's hot, trashy romance escapism. Considering Page's brilliant realisation of contemporary teen pregnancy in Juno, her ground level social understanding makes her a superb choice to play the meek governess who tames the heart of her curt employer.

At the very least, Bronte adaptations generally come with a guaranteed award of some kind, since no critic dare suggest a work of literary recognition is,quite often, boring and pretentious (oh no he didn't!).

Clear some space on your award shelf, Juno.
